Job Description
    Job Summary

    Reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager, the Robotics Manufacturing Engineer Tech is responsible for the support, development and effectiveness of robotic manufacturing processes at Crenlo. Located in Greeneville, TN, Crenlo Cab Products is a leading manufacturer of steel operator cabs and roll over protective structures (ROPS) in North America, providing more than 50 years of high-quality supply to top OEM construction, mining, specialty truck and agricultural equipment manufacturers.

    Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: process development, coordinating automation integration, program maintenance and revision control, providing support to Tool Engineering, providing support to manufacturing, launching new equipment, trouble shooting down equipment, and directing TPM activities.

    This technical role is a critical support role to ensure the Company achieves our goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.

    The candidate may be responsible for cost reduction initiatives, developing and specifying fixtures and tools, developing layouts for implementation of new products, development of work standards, design support of new and existing product, development of quality tools, root cause analysis, development of weld, paint and assembly standards, and CNC programming.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide technical and hands-on support for the installation, setup, programming and function of robot applications.
  • Utilize proven lean manufacturing based analytical and troubleshooting / problem-solving abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, lead-time reduction, inventory reduction and quality improvement while improving employee safety.
  • Collect and analysis data to identify root cause of problem and then implement a solution
  • Key member on project development/implementation team for new products and process improve existing products as assigned. This includes the development of floor plan layouts, cost justifying new and/or used equipment, documentation and troubleshooting of new and existing processes, and responding to floor issues as required to ensure productive flow on our lines.
  • Develop safe processes and monitor existing processes to ensure the safety of our production associates.
  • Perform independent work to ensure that poka-yoke techniques are employed during the product and process design phases and as a means to address quality issues.
  • Develop customer quotations without assistance
  • Develop documentation for new and current product to include engineering drawings, specifications, JES’s, quality checklists, BOMs, Routings, Estimates, etc.
  • Review customer requirements; perform general calculations and make layouts to assure accuracy and compliance to customer specifications.
  • Consult with cross-functional team and customers to assure the design will meet specifications
  • Represent department and company during meetings with customers or suppliers.

    Experience/Education Required
    EDUCATION:
    Associate Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent prior experience/education.

    WORK EXPERIENCE:
    Experience in metal fabrication, welding, painting or assembly. Experience with task management, product design, CNC programming, process improvement, or problem solving.

    SKILLS:
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and complete projects on schedule
  • Technical problem solving using a variety of tools including 3D Cad systems, geometric tolerancing, 8D, basic MS Office Suite, cost analysis, lean manufacturing, and time and motion study, and print reading
  • Communication open, honest, clear and constructive
  • Ability to successfully interface with customers or suppliers

  • WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Repetitive manual movements and keyboarding are required.
  • Sustained visual concentration on small areas, such as monitors, screens is required.
  • Sitting, standing, and frequent walking is required.
  • Work environment is both office as well as shop floor (at least 50 –50) where numerous processes (cutting, welding, grinding, press brake forming, painting, and assembly) are under constant operation.
  • Shop conditions include frequent exposure (30 – 60%) to noise, odors, dust, drafts, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, and hazardous substances.
  • Some overnight travel is required.
