RN REGISTERED NURSE STAFF EDUCATOR/ RN SHIFT SUPERVISOR

Staff Education Functions

The RN Registered Nurse Staff Educator plans, controls, and executes the implementation of new hire orientation and ongoing training programs for all personnel to ensure the maintenance and continuity of a high standard of services throughout the facility.

The RN Registered Nurse Staff Educator demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team. The RN Registered Nurse Staff Educator demonstrates patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.

The RN Registered Nurse Staff Educator coordinates mandatory in-service requirements for all facility staff in addition to education on an as-needed basis for all shifts and departments.

RN Shift Supervisor

The RN Registered Nurse Shift Supervisor plans, controls and executes the nursing services required by the residents. Supervises the day-to-day nursing activities of the facility in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements, to ensure that the residents receive the highest quality of care at all times.

Together with the Nursing Director, the RN Registered Nurse Shift Supervisor plans the operation of nursing services and the provision of emergency support requirements for tour of duty. Plans the coordination of nursing activities for tour of duty in line with medical needs, physician instructions and the general nursing care plan. Coordinates the activities of charge nurses to ensure proper care of residents. In conjunction with medical staff, adjusts the care plan to meet emergency medical needs.

In the absence of superiors, the RN Registered Nurse Shift Supervisor assumes total responsibility for operating decisions required by the circumstances of the moment. Takes responsibility for management of emergency situations as the need develops. Ensures presence of appropriate relief staff to assume responsibility prior to leaving the facility. Ensures notification of resident’s personal physician if there is a significant change in the condition of the resident or if the resident requires immediate medical care.

16 hours staff development; 16 hours Floor RN

Required Qualifications

  • Must hold a current state RN license and be a nurse in good standing.
  • Must meet all applicable federal and state licensure requirements.
  • Ability to supervise and instruct others.
  • Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative, and infection control requirements, OSHA laws and regulations, nursing and medical practices, and guidelines governing long term care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Attention to detail, good follow through skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility.
