RN - CLINICAL INFORMATICS SPECIALIST - FT
Position Title: RN - Clinical Informatics Specialist
Department: Clinical Informatics
Reports To: Clinical Informatics Manager
Supervises: None
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Qualifications: BS/BA/Assoc. Degree in Nursing with 3-5 years of direct patient care experience. Must have and maintain current Illinois license as a Registered Nurse. Excellent communication skills essential. Ability to relate to physicians and other clinical providers. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Proficient with development and troubleshooting of clinical software.
Position Summary:
Provides support in administering clinical information systems for Physicians, Nurses, and all other healthcare providers. Assists in the evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of clinical information systems using the knowledge and skills of clinical practice. Responds promptly to assistance requests from end users. Serves as an Information Services consultant for hospital and clinic practices within the hospital and medical center.
Position Requirements:

Position Preferences:

  • Previous experience in a Clinical Informatics role preferred.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of EHR software (Athena), supporting electronic health platforms and clinical products a plus.
  • Prefer previous physician related application installation and training experience.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities/Accountabilities):

  • Understands and promotes expert level of all assigned system utilization.
  • Applies critical thinking skills to troubleshoot system variants.
  • Provides prompt response to clinical areas, with flexibility in availability to meet those needs.
  • Promotes information literacy and use of evidence based practices in the delivery of healthcare.
  • Manages day to day issues and support requests from providers and end users.
  • Assists employees and patients with all aspects of the patient portal including account access, password resets and general questions.
  • Serves as an expert in patient portal workflows and functionality.
  • Assimilates new release information with existing knowledge and hospital practices during each bi-weekly release as well as during the major releases three times each year.
  • Provides clinical insight into the integration of technology solutions.
  • Assists the Clinical Informatics Manager in providing education for new employees and systems updates.
  • Communicates frequently with clinical providers to ensure needs are facilitated through EHR use.
  • Assists in implementation projects involving clinical informatics.
  • Participates in active communication with software vendors to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Quickly learns new processes and can train employees of all levels of ability, including education on new product features and training for new employees.
  • Manages multiple tasks and conflicting requests in a manner that reflects departmental and organizational priorities.
