Description
UPMC Corporate Services and the System Nursing Resources (SNR) team is currently seeking caring and compassionate licensed professional Critical Care (CCU), Intensive Care (ICU), Medical/Surgical (Med Surg), and Specialty RN's to work on a casual basis within our central nursing float pool. Our professional registered nurses (RNs) work per-diem and long term assignments throughout UPMC's inpatient hospital facilities.
The System Nursing Resources team is a part of the UPMC Corporate Services group that provides per diem and full time staffing support for any and all types of facilities within UPMC. Our casual/per-diem nursing staff supports short term scheduling needs throughout various UPMC hospitals.

Our nursing opportunities offer:
- Highly competitive compensation with an hourly rate at $39.60/hr (with an additional $1-3 an hour in shift differential)

Responsibilities:
- Assume day-to-day assignments at a variety of UPMC inpatient facilities, congruent with their clinical skills and experience.
- Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships internally and externally by demonstrating accountability for actions, enthusiasm, motivation and commitment to patients and colleagues.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, nursing colleagues, other departments, as well as patients and families.
- Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
- Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning
- Practice solid communication skills, and is able to articulate and translate the patient's condition to other care providers and to negotiate and make recommendations for changes in patient care and unit practices. Patient documentation is comprehensive and promotes communication between caregivers.
- Provide detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to effectively guide them through the duration of their stay as well as transition to another level of care and/or home.
- Take personal responsibility in improving patient satisfaction by delivering excellent quality of care and service.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Registered Nurse Program approved by the State Board of Nursing is required.
- One (1) year of relevant nursing (RN) experience required.
- BSN preferred.
- Excellent communication skills necessary to effectively interact with patients, family members, visitors and staff members.
- Basic computer skills necessary to input patient care orders and medical record documentation.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
RN Licensure in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. ACT 33 Child Abuse Clearance required within 90 days of hire. ACT 73 FBI Clearance required within 90 days of hire.
