Position Summary
Avantax Wealth Management, a subsidiary of Blucora and sister company to TaxAct is seeking a Revenue Growth Financial Analyst that will be responsible for collaborating with multiple business leaders and executives to understand and analyze the key revenue growth drivers and help to advise on strategies to reach optimal revenue growth potential in all areas of the organization. The person in this role will serve as a trusted advisor to both the Director and the VP of Finance and the Avantax senior leadership team in many key business decisions with financial impacts. Success in this role requires an ability to gather and analyze complex data, form conclusions, and present recommendations that directly influence strategic and tactical decision making for all areas of the company. The role will support developing a best in a class forecasting model that is automated, sustainable, and reliable, and build effective relationships at all levels of the organization to ensure accurate knowledge of business and up to date factors that drive change.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Create financial capabilities and framework necessary to provide currently missing financial planning and forecasting abilities and forward-looking modeling.
- Create tools necessary to produce “data” necessary to understand the company’s financial health in addition to providing the financial intelligence on products and services, the competitive landscape, regulatory complexities, etc.
- Proactively work with business leaders of the company to understand the financial tools and data that they require to maximize results, provide them with these tools and serve as an evangelist to gain their understanding and cooperation in embracing these new tools.
- Assist the Manager of Finance in developing and maintaining a multi-year strategic financial plan and annual operating and capital budgets.
- Develop and maintain business models for existing and new product offerings. Will assist in market sizing, competitive analysis, and industry research in support of business models.
- Create new reporting metrics necessary to provide new information to business heads necessary for profitably growing their business segments.
- Participate in the Accounting close process, working closely with Accounting and business leaders to ensure complete and accurate financials.
Education and Experience
- Ideally seeking 3+ or more years of experience and currently working for a large/prominent broker-dealer or wirehouse.
- BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Data Analytics or related fields; An MBA or advanced Finance certification is a plus.
- Advanced experience and proficiency in excel and PowerPoint. Experience with a data visualization tool such as Tableau or Power BI a plus.
- Must possess a broad financial background including experience with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Capable of listening to people, being respectful of their opinions, and a proactive ability to serve as an evangelist for change/improvement.
- An ability to understand complex business concepts and to be able to make good judgments when faced with choices.
- Possess urgency for results and a bias for action.
- Leadership skills and ability to gain trust.
- Team player with ego under control. Collaborative in seeking the opinions of others, but, capable of influencing them when appropriate.
