Provides support in capturing fingerprints for potential sponsor and/or household member as part of the Office of Refugee Resettlement background check for release of minor into sponsor care. The position will also assist potential sponsor with filling out necessary documents, explain the family reunification process and provide local resources.

Requires;

The position will also assist potential sponsor with filling out necessary documents, explain the family reunification process and provide local resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with shelter case manager in scheduling fingerprint to accommodate sponsor’s date/time request.
- Create electronic file of fingerprint appointment and upload necessary documents in a case management system.
- Identify and maintain resource guide for local medical/mental health/education/legal resources to assist with social support for sponsor and minor.
- Complete an HHS/ACF/ORR background check for use of WEBS laptop and network.
- Comply with HHS Rules of Behavior for use of HHS Information and Resources, ORR Policy and Procedures and LIRS Safe Release Support Program Site Operations Manual.
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Complete required case documentation with Sponsor.
- Participate in program progress reporting as required by Samaritas and LIRS.
Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, public health or community services preferred, or equivalent experience working with refugees or other vulnerable populations.
Experience
- A minimum of two years of experience in general office and customer service preferred.
- Ability to speak, read and write fluently in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural context. Ability and willingness to work with refugees and other New Americans.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and patience towards persons served. Basic understanding of refugee services.
- Ability to work constructively with staff and clients. Ability and willingness to work as part of a team in achieving common goals.
- Ability to work independently, establish priorities and exercise sound judgment to complex, sensitive and confidential situations.
- Strong public speaking skills. Ability to relate creatively to representatives of various companies, community organizations and governmental agencies.
- Ability to identify needs, interests, aptitudes, skills and problems, and refer clients to appropriate support services, agencies and programs.
- Basic knowledge of and ability to learn local employer community within specific geographic area.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn to utilize various computer programs including Excel spreadsheet and graphic programs.
- Proficiency with both Microsoft Office and Excel.
Additional Work Requirements
- Automobile travel required. Valid unrestricted driver’s license with good driving record and reliable personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients required. Valid proof of automobile insurance required.
- Available to work a flexible schedule from time to time to meet the needs of clients, projects and the program.
- Ability to attend regional conferences out of state, satellite offices, job fairs, and off-site meetings in surrounding counties.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Stands and moves about indoors and outdoors.
- Stoops, bends, twists, and frequently lifts supplies up to 25 lbs; hand-eye coordination; hand and finger dexterity.
