Job Description
Position Summary
The Retail Assistant creates the first impression of Heartland Bank & Trust thus this position requires a person that possesses a high level of Heartland’s values of professionalism, integrity, loyalty, and customer service. The Retail Assistant's primary responsibilities are to greet and assist customers and provide administrative support to all Branch staff.
Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:
- Create a welcoming and helpful first impression by greeting and assisting customers, handling their inquiries by researching issues and responding to clients or directing them to the appropriate persons according to their needs.
- Provide administrative support to all Branch staff
- Manage Safe Deposit Boxes when applicable
- Operate telephone switchboard to answer, screen and forward calls, providing information, taking messages and scheduling appointments.
- Perform administrative duties such as ordering supplies, ordering checks, scheduling conference rooms, maintaining equipment, shipping and receiving, opening, reading, routing, and distributing incoming mail or other materials
- Responsible for unlocking and locking lobby doors in accordance with Bank hours
- Maintain and post branch signage

Computer Skills
- Basic computer skills with interest and ability to learn new applications
- Proficient in Onbase look up, Xperience inquiry, Xperience Teller, ISNet, OTRS usage, Synapsys usage, OnBoard Deposits, eSign and all standard Microsoft applications.
Education and Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year experience in Customer Service preferred
Physical Requirements
- Regularly: reaching with arms and hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, talking, feeling/touching, vision - close, peripheral, depth, ability to adjust focus, lifting objects up to 30 pounds
- Frequently: standing, walking, hearing
- Occasionally: sitting, climbing and/or balancing
