Spaulding Academy & Family Services currently has a full time opportunity for a Residential Counselor to join our Residential team. This role is to teach daily living skills, community integration, and socialization to students ranging from 4 to 21 years old. There are case management responsibilities with specific student groups in the residence.

In addition to programs provided on our Northfield campus, Spaulding’s community based programs include foster family licensing, Individual Service Option (ISO) foster care, ISO in-home services, child health support services and more, for children ages 0 to 20 and their families.
Requirements for the Residential Counselor are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Special Education, or related field.
- Experience with emotionally handicapped, learning-disabled, neurobehavioral-impaired, autistic, intellectually disabled or delinquent boys and girls or adolescents is required.
Principal Duties are:
Shift Preparation to include: Identification of assigned students; prepare materials for schedules, check and respond to emails, help with other cottage responsibilities:
Implements behavioral management program:

- Develops and implements activities for students during shift hours.
- Counselor case management responsibilities with specific student groups.
- Oversees daily living needs of individual caseload (clothing, reinforce contracts, birthday, graduation, Christmas).
- Develops daily and monthly progress notes for individual cases.
- Develops and presents residential narrative and data summary at treatment team for individual case students.
- Maintains residential data and information recording system, e.g., data catchers, critical incident reports, residential log.
- Meets bi-weekly with Residential House Manager for supervision.
- Attends and participates in weekly residential meetings.
- Attends and participates in seminars or trainings to advance knowledge when available.
- Is familiar with Spaulding’s Safety Program and adheres to all provisions of the written safety plan. Respectful of equipment and/or working environment; promotes an environment free from conduct that violates the rights of others.
- Participates in the dispensing of medication to students when warranted.
- Provides exceptional customer service to students, their families and outside stakeholders.
- Monitors, screens and responds to all pertinent communication regarding case assignments and residential responsibilities in a timely fashion.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
If assigned duties in the capacity of 1:1 Services, in addition to the above the employee will be required to:
- Maintain knowledge of and implement the identified plan that addresses the need for 1:1 service
- Attend on-going training pertaining to the identified plan
- Provide timely and appropriate documentation as dictated by the plan, which includes documentation of 1:1 services provided.
