Resident Service Specialist
Part time –up to 15 hours a week.
Compensation: $15.00 per hour
NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED. ENTRY LEVEL POSITION.
Assumes responsibility for the implementation of resident service programming at up to three apartment communities (sites) ensuring compliance with the stated program objectives. Acts as a liaison and coordinates communication between site property management, LPM, community agencies, contracted service providers (if any), other LPM service specialists and a site’s residents. Primarily responsible for interviewing residents to determine their eligibility for a wide range of community social services and providing appropriate referrals. Conducts surveys and engages with residents to assess the need for additional programs/services and to encourage resident participation in existing programs. Provides direct resident services such as:
- coordinate health presentations and screening;
- organize cultural events off site;
- coordinate sports and game activities;
- conduct adult programs to address household budgeting, job skills, computer skills, etc.;
- organizational support for apartment watch and social activities committees to encourage resident participation in the happenings of their community;
- work with existing volunteers to develop/expand youth programs, such as basketball and Teen Night program;
- provide outreach and recruit participants ages 5-12 and 13-19 year olds for homework assistance and afterschool program(s);
- design and coordinate an incentive program to reward youth participants every quarter. Incentive program will be shared with other homework assistance providers;
- Coordinate with local church and/or food banks to provide food program for needy residents;
Provide programmatic support services for the above, including off-site recreation programs and field trips, Resident Service Packets, Site Service Schedules and other duties as assigned.
This position requires clear and accurate communication skills including spoken, written and visual, and requires working well within a team. For homework assistance assignments, employee must pass a 6th grade skills competency exam. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis, travel in a timely manner from one apartment complex to another and other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this position has some college education or a bachelor’s degree - preferably in early childhood education, social work, or other human services field; has a clean DMV record, is capable of clearing a national criminal background check, including fingerprint scans, and has at least five years of acceptable work history.
