Job Description:
Residence Life Coordinators serve as a live in professional staff member for the Department of Residential Life. This individual is responsible for the day to day operation of a residence hall or group of residence halls including staff supervision, community development, administration, building management, and general departmental responsibilities.
25% Administration and Building Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for all departmental paperwork and processes within specified community. Assume primary responsibility for opening, closing, budget management, facilities management, and desk operations in their specific community.
20% Staff Supervision: Provide day to day supervision of a graduate residence director, a staff of X resident assistants, and desk assistants within their community through regular one on one and staff meetings. Actively participate in staff recruitment, selection and training efforts of all staff members.
20% Student Outreach and Crisis Management: Serve as a member of the departmental on-call rotation, become familiar with and implement departmental protocol and processes, and follow up on students of concern as needed. Serve as a conduct officer for departmental processes and referral agent.
20% Community Building & Student Development: Direct and assess community development and student learning initiatives in assigned area with special attention paid to community council, academic resources, and departmental assessment initiatives. Work with assigned Residential College as needed. Support and implement programs to further established departmental goals.
15% Departmental Responsibilities: Actively participate in departmental programs and projects while upholding the mission, vision and values of Residential Life. Serve as a role model for students and staff. Participate actively in divisional responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or related degree with at least two years experience and at least two academic semesters of residence hall staff experience at the graduate level of higher or related student affairs experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters and/or Bachelor's Degrees in fields applicable for work with Residential Colleges (i.e. STEM majors for Science, Agriculture, Engineering Residential Colleges, Business for Business Residential College, etc).
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Residence Life Coordinators are required to live in a residence hall apartment and be available irregular hours, extended work days, on-call emergencies, and weekends. This person is also designated as essential personnel and is required to be present for emergency situations.
