Job Description
Overview: Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 100 law firm, seeks a full time Research Specialist – Training and Research. Under the immediate supervision of the Library Services Manager, the Research Specialist is responsible for responding to user requests for all types of assistance and is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys, and staff. The Research Specialist will also assist with developing and implementing a training plan for attorneys, paralegals and other staff.A Day in the Life: Plans and conducts training and orientation sessions.
Provides guidelines, instruction, and directions to attorneys and staff regarding use of databases, online services, and web-based tools through individual instruction and/or research consultations, across multiple office locations, using various communication formats.
Develops and maintains the RIS Department’s LibGuides and assists with the maintenance of the RIS intranet page.
Creates strategies, to enhance marketing of RIS Department services and electronic resources to increase usage across the firm
Develops and maintains instructional and training materials in print and multimedia formats.
Assists with onboarding of attorneys and staff
Provides high-quality reference services to the RIS users, including Competitive Intelligence reports.
Participates in the regular review and evaluation of new and existing electronic resources with the goal of improved service and research efficiencies.
Provides support on other projects or duties as assigned.We Know You: Strong legal research skills including complex legal and business research in a variety of practice areas, jurisdictions and information types
Strong presentation skills. Must also have high professional standards, superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to providing quality work product and outstanding customer service
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word, Adobe Acrobat and other common legal systems; and the ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies and workflows
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a close attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and communicate findings in a clear and concise manner
Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines, multi-task, appropriately prioritize assignments and demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
Ability to take direction and work in a collaborative, service-oriented team; and work independently, initiating and carrying projects through to completion, with minimal supervision
Experience Education
