Job Description Summary
The candidate will be responsible for the following work:
Performing experiments related to organic synthesis, characterization, purification, and basic microbiology assays for assessing their biological functions;
Ordering reagents, plasticware, glassware, equipment and animals (in vivo assays);
Inventory maintenance, lab supplies organization and overall lab management;
Establishing wet lab assays, performing experiments in facilities (characterization and purification), and occasionally assisting in animal models;
Mentoring and assisting new lab members.
Job Description
The candidate must have experience with:
Chemistry techniques (e.g., handling solvents and reagents, small molecules synthesis, solution and solid-phase peptide synthesis, resistance to enzymatic degradation assays, cyclization and conjugation reactions, compounds purification and characterization, including nuclear magnetic resonance, liquid chromatography, gas phase chromatography, mass spectrometry, etc.);
Biophysics techniques (e.g., vesicles and micelles preparation and leakage assays, isothermal titration calorimetry, surface plasmon resonance, circular dichroism and oriented circular dichroism);
Microscopy (e.g., confocal, optical, fluorescent, etc.);
Expertise using graphical design tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator or equivalent software).
In addition, the candidate will be occasionally responsible for leading and conducting a wide range of biological tests using antimicrobials compounds. Other techniques necessary for this position include proficiency with the microdilution method for the determination of minimal inhibitory concentration, minimal bactericidal, cytotoxicity assessments against eukaryotic cells mechanisms of action experiments (DNA binding, Laurdan, NPN uptake, OPNG, DiSC3-5 and other mechanism of action assays), multiplex ELISA assays, resistance development assays and synergy of related antimicrobials.
The candidate will be also responsible for discussing data collected by themselves and other lab members and leading/mentoring other lab members when requested.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and 0-1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
