The Research Manager will manage a research topic that develops cutting-edge qualitative and quantitative research for IDC's diverse base of clients and be a subject-matter expert on related advisory services. This role will be responsible for developing thought leadership around emerging service opportunities. The role will also be responsible for understanding the needs and requirements of the buyers and suppliers of digital transformation professional services, tracking and evaluating key providers, and identifying trends, segmentations and developing spending forecasts for digital transformation. The role will have significant interaction with the senior leadership of leading business and IT service providers as well as their customers.

- Develop, publish and present innovative, insightful and actionable research. This includes writing well-researched and concise reports, generating forecasts, and presenting findings to providers and clients of digital transformation professional services
- Participate in survey design and analysis: develop, execute and publish relevant, insightful and actionable buyer-focused surveys
- Develop and maintain quantitative data models for historical and forecast data
- Participate in sales and marketing activities to secure new clients for the program
- Assist IDC Sales in the annual process of subscription renewals for existing clients
- Assist IDC Custom Solutions in the development of proposals for customized research consulting projects
- Participate in the annual process to identify new research offerings
- Provide first-class customer support and advisory services: offer timely and actionable insights and ongoing customer service
- Work closely with other IDC analysts to collect, analyze, and report observed trends, vendor revenue and market segmentation
- Collaborate with IDC analysts outside the Worldwide Services Team and publish cross-domain research initiatives such as the Future of Digital Innovation, which is part of IDC's Future Enterprise research
- Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's Degree is preferred. Highly relevant industry expertise will also be considered in lieu of these requirements
- 5-7 years experience working in or covering the Digital Transformation Professional Services industry as an analyst, marketer, product manager, or other relevant role
- Extremely strong quantitative skills particularly in market modeling and forecasting highly desired
- Excellent communication, presentation, writing and analytical skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft suite of products is a must
- Proven record of multi-tasking, with a demonstrated ability of working under pressure with competing deadlines
- This role may require occasional domestic or international travel to client sites once business travel resumes more fully
- Location is IDC's Needham, MA headquarters, or an approved remote location. Hybrid work scenarios encouraged as well
