Job Description

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Drive research activities aimed at expanding our understanding of therapeutic MOAs, predictors of sensitivity and resistance, safety, biomarkers, and combination strategies as they emerge and evolve
  • Ensure key research activities leading to IND filings and Phase I studies are conducted, and documentation is completed for timely and successful regulatory filings
  • Enable successful transition of projects from Discovery Research teams to Global Product teams
  • Collaborate with translational sciences, clinical, and med affairs teams to integrate core research hypotheses into clinical trial design
  • Support clinical programs through manuscripts and conference presentations; participate in and ensure success of the Global Product Team publication strategy
  • Represent Research on Global Product Teams to allow for integration of translational and clinical data in support of key mechanisms and/or identifying and executing on cross program opportunities, bedside to bench and innovation based on clinical observations
  • Develop and mentor a team of scientists and research associates to become experts in early-stage therapeutic development
  • Represent research on advisory boards
  • Provide research support for external collaborations and/or MTAs

Required Qualifications

  • PhD with 10+ years of experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company focused on discovery and drug development in a program/project management role
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in supporting research for early-stage clinical programs
  • 5+ years leading and directly managing teams. Ability to give feedback, coach, mentor, and develop employees

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge and expertise in the preparation and delivery of INDs
  • Experience building and leading high-functioning scientific teams, with the ability to give feedback, coach, and mentor
  • Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, ability to absorb and integrate information and succinctly relay critical information to relevant stakeholders
  • Strong collaborator across teams and a variety of disciplines; effective at building alliances across functions
  • Ability to think strategically and proactively identify problems and devise solutions that move the projects forward
  • Ability to adapt and adjust to a rapidly evolving environment
