Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Coordinator. The Research Coordinator will accelerate and facilitate the research endeavors of the Environmental Pediatrics Division of the NYU School of Medicine. Specifically, this candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator to launch a new study on the effect of environmental exposures and fertility and reproductive health. As part of this study, we will be recruiting adults of reproductive age and following them longitudinally. Those who become pregnant will be invited to join our ongoing pregnancy and child health study, the NYU Children's Health and Environment Study, which is funded by the NIH Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) Program.


Job Responsibilities:


Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Interface with Principal Investigator and Division faculty on the creation of a recruitment strategy and facilitate its implementation.
    • Train and supervise Research Data Associates who will be screening potential participants, administering informed consent, scheduling questionnaires and in-person visits, dispensing incentives, collecting and processing data and biospecimens, and performing chart abstraction.
    • Create staff schedules.
    • Answer study-related questions posed via e-mail or phone calls from potential participants and/or the public.
    • Maintains study timelines.
    • Oversee management of REDCap project through which data collection, workflow, and interaction with participants will be administered.
    • Assist the PI in development of materials and tools necessary to appropriately train individuals involved in the conduct of the study around issues related to (but not limited to) protocol requirements, schedule of visits, and execution of research plan. Maintain documentation of training.
    • Manage the development and maintenance of study documents including recruitment materials, clinical protocols, amendments, informed consent forms, study guides, case report forms, and any other clinical research-related documents.
    • Maintain all databases and conduct routine maintenance as needed to ensure data integrity.
    • Insure accuracy of data entry from paper forms (e.g., paper questionnaires, signed consent forms) and safe storage of these forms.
    • Attend investigator meetings as required or requested by the PI.
    • Prepare study progress reports and present information on a weekly basis to the Principal Investigator and research staff.
    • Ensure the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices and HIPAA.
    • Collaborate on creation of and supervise production of patient education material, research newsletters, study website, and online communication with participants.
    • Manage the submission of necessary documents required by the NYU Institutional Review Board (IRB) including modifications and continuing reviews.
    • Assists with the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.
    • Maximize staff productivity and morale via coaching and counseling; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting trainings; implementing and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Manage procurement of all study and office supplies.
    • Evening and weekend hours and some travel required.

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have a Bachelor degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration or related field.
Minimum of two years of progressively responsible project coordination experience, preferably in a research setting.
Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications.
Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills.
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers.
Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
Commitment to continuous learning as required by department administration.
Ability to operate research related equipment
Ability to work and make decisions independently.
Time management skills and ability to multitask.
Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems: Ability to work well under pressure.


Preferred Qualifications:


Masters of Public Health or equivalent degree.
Clinical Research Certification (ARCP or SOCRA) is preferred.
Prior experience working with research protocols, recruitment and follow-up of research participants, and data collection.
Knowledge/experience with statistical analysis and statistical software (SAS, R) preferred.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Phlebotomy skills preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
