About Encodia

Encodia is a rapidly growing platform company that is developing a new generation of protein analysis tools based on single-molecule protein sequencing. Our goal is to make protein sequencing easy and ubiquitous by using a novel reverse-translation technology that turns peptide sequences into DNA. The DNA can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at a scale that is not practical or cost-effective using current technologies.


Job Summary

Encodia is seeking to recruit a Research Associate with a background in molecular biology and Next-Gen Sequencing experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing NGS libraries, executing sequencing runs, being strongly motivated, goal-oriented and working well under tight timelines. The nature of the role is highly cross-functional, requires an integration mind set and strong organizational and communication skills.


Job Responsibilities
  • Preparing and sequencing NGS libraries for an interdisciplinary team.
  • Optimizing NGS library preparation protocols.
  • Carrying out molecular biology lab work and operating automated liquid handlers.
  • Performing lab maintenance tasks such as ordering reagents, making buffers, maintaining sequencing supplies and keeping a detailed lab notebook.
  • Assisting with assay development and validation and updating standard operating procedures.
  • Partnering and communicating results effectively to collaborators and internal customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0-2 years' of experience in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience with nucleic acid amplification and detection technologies: e.g. PCR/qPCR, ddPCR, and gels.
  • Previous experience with preparing Next-Gen DNA libraries and Next-Gen sequencing preferred.
  • High standards for quality and technical excellence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and zeal for organization.
  • Excellent team player.
