Serves as a research associate will perform various general and advanced laboratory tasks, maintain the mice colony and conduct animal experiments to study the role of proteotoxic stress response in pancreatic tumoral lipid metabolism and tumorigenesis. Assist in grant and publication preparation, lab management, training Ph.D. students and new staff.
Qualifications:Education/experience/licensing:
Education and training are generally associated with a B.S. with 3-year laboratory experiences or M.S. or Ph.D. Degree in cancer biology, physiology, pharmacology, or related field.
Prior laboratory research experience is preferred:
Molecular biological techniques: Gene cloning, Western blot, PCR and real-time PCR, RNAi, overexpression analysis, proximity ligation assay (PLA), Flow Cytometry analysis, Chromatin immunoprecipitation (CHIP), in vitro kinase assay, and some knowledge on bioinformatics.
Cell culture and transfection: knowledge and experience in cell cultures such as primary tumor cell, mammalian cell, and embryonic stem cell. Cell lipid metabolism techniques, cell transfection, proliferation, apoptosis, and autophagy experiments.
Molecular imaging techniques: Confocal imaging, immunocytochemical staining, immunohistochemistry staining, transmission electron microscopy.
Animal study: Experience with genetically engineered mouse models will be prioritized, mice handling, colony maintenance, and genotyping, blood and tissue collection, xenograft and orthotopic implantation, mice Eco-MRI body composition analysis, i.p./i.v. injection, oral gavage, and drug efficacy studies.
Communication and other skills:
Ability to lead a project with minimal supervision in an organized fashion.
Capacity to work collaboratively with investigators in a multidisciplinary academic setting.
Laboratory management experiences are preferred, but not required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience using advanced Excel functions such as tables, graphs, statistical formulas, Basic editor, and other software such as GraphPad Prism analysis and Image J are preferred.
Experience in rodent husbandry or veterinary care is useful, but not required. Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in animal care and laboratory activities.
Working Conditions:Work in the standard research lab with biosafety level 2.
