Advertisement Wording The department of Engineering & Technology Management at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as a Research Associate. The anticipated start date is 07/01/2022. RESPONSIBILITIES : The Research Associate leads and is part of an interdisciplinary, international team that will develop advanced maintenance models based on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. The models will be used to train crew maintenance in the physical testbeds and VR/AR testbeds in the areas of automation and manufacturing. The candidate needs to implement/evaluate intelligent algorithms to optimize variables in the areas of control, mechanics, and manufacturing systems. Also, the candidate will incorporate the following: A) Industrial controls, condition-based maintenance, and sustainable advanced manufacturing theories. B) The development of training modules/workshops for the manufacturing technician workforce. C) Support for advanced manufacturing entrepreneurs. D) An augmented and virtual reality laboratory (AVRL) to simulate real behavior of industrial and manufacturing equipment, training in the areas of control, automation, electrical maintenance, and advanced manufacturing. E) Systems simulations and modeling. F) Vision systems. REQUIREMENTS : Master’s or doctorate degree, or equivalent terminal degree, in a relevant field of mechatronics including intelligent control theories, industrial automation, electric/electronics, mechanical design, virtual, augmented, and mixed reality systems applied to industrial training, computer science applied to engineering or advance manufacturing. Organizational Relationships Reports to the Assistant Professor of Engineering Technology Management who is serving as the PI for a research grant. This position interacts with faculty and staff as well as external agencies.
