Job Description

Job-Specific Responsibilities

The Seidman lab is known for their work on the genetic basis of cardiovascular disease, including congenital heart disease. They are members of a multicenter consortium that has enrolled a large cohort of participants with congenital heart disease. The lab has a wide range of expertise and interests, including computational genomics, gene editing, and animal or human induced pluripotent stem cell models of heart development. We are looking for someone to assist in our research, including functional validation of potentially pathogenic variants.

The individual will work under specific direction, to prepare and maintain material for laboratory analysis according to established technical procedures.

Duties may include:
  • Operating scientific equipment.
  • Maintaining cultures and other experimental matter.
  • Performing standard experimental tests and procedures.
  • Performing related job duties as required.
  • Recording results of experiments according to standard laboratory techniques.
  • Presenting experimental results at lab meetings

Basic Qualifications

College background or equivalent work experience, preferably in a related discipline. At least one year related work experience (relevant course work may count towards experience).

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Demonstrated abilities in basic laboratory techniques helpful, but not
required. Exposure to applicable computer technologies, including specific software applications,
may be required. Appropriate communications skills required.
Working Conditions: May be required to lift, move and transport related laboratory equipment.
May be required to work with a variety of hazardous materials.

Additional Information

This is a one-year, fullly benefits eligible, term position with possibility of extension contingent on work performance and continued funding to support the position.
