DutiesSummary

The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for an Rehabilitation Technician. The Rehabilitation Technician will function within the Compensated Work Therapy Service.


Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, instructing, orienting, and providing feedback regarding work skills to 45-70 veterans participating in the CWT program each day
  • Observing and instructing veterans as they perform work assignments throughout the entire VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System
  • Providing instruction to veterans based on Compensated Work Therapy clinical vocational criteria of basic work community
  • Responsible to complete weekly, weekend, monthly and holiday work schedule for the CWT participants to assure appropriate coverage
  • Share responsibility for completing the veterans' payroll using Excel or similar program
  • Responsible to utilize the timeclock system
  • Enrolls new veterans into the program
  • Update timecard as needed for new and discharged veterans
  • Utilize Appointment Management function in VISTA to support Therapeutic Work Programs in scheduling veterans
  • Document each veteran's progress in the veteran's electronic medical record (CPRS) at least twice a month
  • Meet with each veteran at the work assignment or the jobsite in the community
  • At the worksite, reviews with the CWT participant strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences for multidisciplinary input into provision of care for veterans
  • Conduct satisfaction surveys for the CWT program (participants and stakeholders)
  • directly assist the veteran with their work assignments

    Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.     • Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Computer skills, mathematical skills sufficient to complete payroll, reading timecards, putting data into a computerized payroll system, ability to interact with veteran population that have various cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, ability to interact with supervisors from various departments, writing and oral skills in communicating in a positive manner to veterans, staff, visitors, and management, Knowledge of CARF and JCAHO, develop basic treatment plan for veterans to include measurable goals endorsed by the veteran OR,
    • Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one full year of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position with courses in psychology, social work or other directly related subjects. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be 18 semester hours. (TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE SUBMITTED). OR,
    • Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond one full year of graduate education .

    Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.     Physical Requirements:
    This position requires considerable walking throughout the medical center, including the visitor parking garage and employee parking garage. The incumbent will need to occasionally go outside on medical center grounds, at times in clement weather. Documentation and Payroll require the incumbent to sit at a computer. The incumbent will be teaching veterans proper procedures, to include wheelchair transport, and will assist in providing direct escort services as part of teaching as well as to provide timely service.
