Providence is calling a Registrar (Patient Registration, Variables, 0.0 FTE) to Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all – especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
- Creating a consistent and exceptional patient experience throughout the patient interview process.
- Assess patient ability to complete the admission process prior to receiving services or going to their hospital rooms; in some instances, may require bedside registration.
- Alert clinical staff if patients need immediate attention.
- Ensure patients are registered in a timely manner, ensuring accounts are complete, compliant, and billable and do not require rework or intervention.
- Provides armbands in a timely manner and verifies all information on the armband with patient to ensure accuracy.
- Request, collect and document co-pays from patients effectively and efficiently within EMTALA guidelines where applies.
- Escort and/or direct patient appropriately once registration completed.
- Secure patient's valuables in accordance with PH&S procedures, providing appropriate validation documentation and storing valuables in safe as needed.
- Return valuables to patients at discharge and complete valuables log.
- Ensure order entry tasks are completed timely and accurately.
- Process in-house patient work queues timely and accurately.
- Ensure all relevant documentation is scanned timely and accurately.
- For worker comp/labor and industries patients, ensure forms are filled in promptly and accurately and follow through with patients for signature and completion.
- Present ABN’s and ensure signatures are obtained.
- Ensure all computer system entries are completed accurately and timely.
- Maintain accurate, clear, concise, and complete account notes and other relevant information.
- Closely adhere to set schedules and handle time standards.
- Promote PH&S as a premier service organization by treating customers with compassion and respect.
- Identify, resolve and escalate major issues and service failures that impede success.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient demographic, medical, and financial information, ensuring proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adherence to HIPAA.
- Comply with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and requirements as well as PH&S policies and procedures in all aspects of job performance.
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position include:
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience in customer service or healthcare registration
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Some college level course work preferred particularly Medical Terminology or Medical Assistant coursework
- Previous registrar and third party payor experience
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist (CRCS)
