Job Summary:
Under medical direction, Respiratory Therapists assist patients of all ages who suffer from pulmonary (breathing) disorders. In addition to analyzing and performing diagnostic testing, respiratory therapists perform relevant exams and control patient’s blood-oxygen levels, as well as set up and utilize cardiopulmonary equipment and machines needed to assist or monitor the patients breathing.

What your day will look like:
- Full-Time, Night Shift
You will be responsible for:
- Performs routine respiratory care procedures including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy and chest physical therapy as ordered by the physician
- Performs critical care procedures including initiation and maintenance of mechanical ventilation as circumstances demand.
- Assist in the transport of ventilated patients for diagnostic testing.
- Performs checks on patients receiving mechanical ventilation Q 4 hours and as needed
- Follows emergency respiratory care procedures including Code Blue, Rapid Response, trauma codes, manual resuscitation, assisting with endotracheal intubation, STAT ordered therapies in a timely manner when such events occur
- Maintains and Improves clinical competence, practices universal precautions, maintaining and cleaning of equipment.
- Ensures that Ventilators and Bipap units are returned to the department when discontinued unless specifically requested by the patient’s nurse
- Utilizes appropriate care in the use and transport of all hospital equipment at all times
Qualifications:
- Education/Licensure:
- Registration by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC )
- Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapist Program
- Must possess a current NJ state Respiratory Care License
- Current BLS certification or acquired within three months
- Experience:
- Experience in a hospital setting preferred but not required
