The Staff RN is responsible for implementing, directing, communicating and documenting the nursing process and provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and associates. The nurse practices in accordance with current established standards of care, the Nurse Practice Act, the Community Healthcare System policies and procedures, and supports the mission and philosophy of CHS.
Scope of Care: Type and age of Patient Served or Type of Service Provided (non-clinical areas)- The average age of patients admitted to this unit is 28 years of age.
- Patients are at some stage of pregnancy.
Most frequent type/condition of patients: I. Normal Laboring Patient II. Labor Induction III. Scheduled Cesarean Section IV. High Risk Patients V. Outpatients
The top diagnoses for Labor and Delivery are:
- Threatened premature labor, antepartum
- Scheduled Induction-Term
- Scheduled Cesarean Section-Term or with Medical Indication
- Infections of genitourinary tract, antepartum
- Other current maternal conditions classifiable elsewhere, antepartum
Education/Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current professional licensure by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau. BSN desirable. Successful completion of The Community Healthcare System's Personnel and Nursing Orientation Programs. Obtains and maintains current certification (ACLS) as required in specialty areas (Critical Care). Obtains and maintains current CPR certification
