Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing meeting the minimum standards set by the State of Alabama and licensure with the state of Alabama as a registered nurse.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of nursing experience is preferred.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential FunctionsPractices family centered nursing according to policies and Nurse Practice Act; utilizes the Nursing process to: assess the patient, plan individualized care, identify expected outcomes, and implement/evaluate nursing interventions for patients and families; administers medications including controlled substances by all routes; starts IV’s; responds to overhead pages; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; performs therapeutic and/or diagnostic procedures as ordered; performs basic life support and management of arrest situations; maintains appropriate supplies for procedural needs; provides appropriate care to specimens and cultures as directed by set Policies and Procedures; maintains accurate and complete medical records to include utilizing correct documentation tools and procedures and completing peri-operative assessments, pain assessment tools, and patient charges accurately; manages peri-operative patient utilizing principles of aseptic practice and initiates corrective action when breaks occur; performs scrub/circulating duties and establishes/maintains sterile field; maintains unit specific quality control logs; accompanies patient to PACU and reports to Nurse Manager; adheres to electrosurgical safety Policy and Procedures; monitors and maintains peri-operative environment; available in hospital within thirty minutes of call; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime and call as required; related duties as required.
