Fulltime - 36 hours a week - Days

Hiring Range $30.39 - $38.00 per hour, based on years of qualified experience. Expert level pay consideration may be provided above Hiring Range.

POSITION SUMMARY

Coordinates total nursing care for the peri-operative procedure patient. Provides intensive observation and care for the pre- and post-operative procedure patient for which an anesthetic agent or moderate sedation was used.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or Formal Training

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

1. Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

2. Basic Life Support (BLS) required by end of conditional period.

3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within conditional period.

4. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire.

5. Member of professional organization encouraged.

6. Certification encouraged.

Experience

Previous experience in Endoscopy, PACU or adult critical care preferred

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides safe, competent, effective nursing care in accordance with hospital, OCC/PACUs standards of care, policies and procedures. When applicable, employees must be able to adjust the essential functions they perform appropriately to the age of their patient/customer.

Demonstrates clinical competency with routine PACU assessment skills.

Assists with special tests or procedures (e.g. epidural injection, regional blocks, local injection, A-line insertion, and chest tube insertion).

Manage invasive lines in conjunction with invasive monitors or CVP manometer (A-lines, subclavian).

Demonstrates knowledge and management of the patient with inadequate airway resulting from emergence from anesthesia, regional anesthesia and moderate sedation.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  • Physical working environment may include, but not be limited to, any of the following hazards: chemicals, electrical, mechanical, biowaste, explosive, radiation, laser, laser plume, stress, back strain, body fluids, etc.
  • Environmental conditions may include, but not be limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, multi-stimuli, etc.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.
  • The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).
  • Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching.
  • The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.
