Job Description
A nurse or medical assistant in this role provides general care and oversight to residents receiving medications in community residential support settings as governed by MN Rule 245D: Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved medication administration techniques and provide oversight of administration of medications and report under the supervision of a registered nurse.
General description of Duties:
Observes resident, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervising nurse or physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
As a residential program, assist agency coordinator in health service coordination and care according to the requirements in section 245D.05, subdivision 1.
(3) safe medication assistance and administration according to the requirements in sections 245D.05, subdivisions 1a, 2, and 5, and 245D.051, that are established in consultation with a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or medical doctor and require completion of medication administration training according to the requirements in section 245D.09, subdivision 4a, paragraph (d). - providing medication-related services for a person.
- medication setup.
- medication administration.
- medication storage and security.
- medication documentation and charting.
- verification and monitoring of effectiveness of systems to ensure safe medication handling and administration.
- coordination of medication refills.
- handling changes to prescriptions and implementation of those changes.
- communicating with the pharmacy; and
- coordination and communication with prescriber.
