Registered Nurse I

Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by orientation/skills checklist.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) made a conscious decision to use “healthcare consumer” terminology as we globally focus on health and wellness. The word “patient” focuses on illness and disease states, while “healthcare consumer” encompasses a large group of consumers using the healthcare system. According to the ANA, using “healthcare consumer” shows respect for those we treat, recognizing that the “healthcare consumer” is looking for safe, quality care.

Must be graduated from an accredited school of nursing

Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina or one of compact states.

No specific clinical experience needed, except in some specialty areas.
