Job Summary:
Assist the dentist in performing all dental procedures - attends to the patient, sterilize instruments, cleans operators, performs office tasks, and all other duties necessary for the operation of the dental clinic. Must have communicative skills and be able to follow oral and written instructions.
This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
Education:
Required: One year dental assistant program or equivalent.

Department Position Summary:
The Dental Assistant will have the necessary skills to register patients, verify insurance, and post charges. The employee will be able to make, change, or cancel appointments. The employee will also retrieve or file patient records as well as keep track of supply inventories and place supply orders as needed.
The Dental Assistant will attend to the patient and assist the dentist in performing all the dental procedures provided tot he patients. The Dental Assistant will also possess the skills needed to perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring models, making temporaries, etc.
The employee will clean, bag, and sterilize instruments as well as maintain the sterilization log. The employee will clean and disinfect the operatory after patient dismissal and prepare the operatory for the next patient.
The Dental Assistant must have good communicative skills and be able to follow oral and written instructions.
