Opportunity Description:

Position Description:

The Regional Sales Director-Central (RSD) is responsible to build Huber’s market share and position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business deals while strengthening business relationships.

The Regional Sales Director (RSD) will be primarily responsible for identifying sales opportunities within a defined geographic region and work to favorably position appropriate and authorized company technological offerings with the goal of successful procurement of accepted purchase orders. Until an order has been successfully, secured, potential projects are within the jurisdiction and responsibility of the RSD.

The RSD will oversee and manage a network of contracted Independent Representative Firms (IRF) to work in cooperation to achieve primary sales goals. The RSD will conduct ongoing training and coordination of the IRF with an expressed goal of establishing and maintaining priority participation of IRF sales activities.

The RSD will visit directly with key clients, engineers, and decision makers on a repeating basis to educate and advocate the complete technology offering with the expressed purpose of establishing direct relationship with Huber Technology, Inc.

During the pre-order phase of the sales process, the RSD will work in cooperation with Application Engineer (AE) to provide complete and accurate technical & costing information to the client on a timely basis. The RSD along with AE will maintain a database of offerings and related information. Once an order has been accepted, the project is handed over to Project Management (PM) and the responsibility for fulfillment of the order is the jurisdiction of the PM. The RSD is to provide guidance and assistance at the request of the PM as needed to clarify and assist with the customer.

Duties and responsibilities:

The following represents a list of essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned:

Sales Activities:

Outside Sales

  • Client Visits: RSD conducts a program of regular client visits with a specific purpose of developing client relationship and knowledge; ability of technology offering.
  • Identify Opportunities: RSD is responsible for seeking out, obtaining information and qualifying developing projects that are candidates for Company offered technologies.
  • Opportunity Development: Work to establish Company offered technology as basis of Client design with the ultimate goal to obtain procurement at Net-Base-Sell (Desired) margin.
  • Representative Management: Coordinate and oversee a network of contracted Independent Representative Firms (IRF). This involves technical support, training, and cooperative Client visits with IRF. RSD in cooperation with Director of Sales and/or President will be responsible for contracting and termination of IRF.

Application Engineering (AE) Assist:

  • Budget Proposals: RSM generates preliminary project sizing, budget proposals (outside services quote through AE), and requests drawings (drawings through AE) for prospective clients.
  • Client Specifications: RSD works with Client to develop specifications that accurately describe offered technology. Note: Competitive environment commonly requires compromise.
  • Formal Proposal: RSD is responsible for obtaining all Client documentation to support AE generation of formal proposal. RSD will review formal proposal and obtain consensus with AE.
  • Pricing will ultimately be determined by the RSD. Direct proposals will be issued be AE. Contractor bid proposals will be distributed by RSD. RSD is ultimately responsible for negotiating and obtaining Purchase Order.
  • Contract Review: RSD and Inside Sales Engineer will jointly review and negotiate satisfactory terms and conditions for each Purchase Order.

Inside Sales Assist:

Client Resource: RSD to be available on as needed basis to assist with customer relations

Project Management Assist

Marketing Assist

Market Strategy: RSD is to provide marketing input on as needed basis

Reporting & Data Management:

Project database and files

  • Project Files: RSD and AE coordinate and maintain prospective project files maintained on the Company server. AE maintains hard copy files.
  • Project Database: RSD and AE coordinate and maintain a database of budget quotes and use of CRM software.
  • Forecasting: RSD generates and reports a yearly forecast that is then updated/maintained for monthly and quarterly forecast.

Expenses

Expense Report: RSD is responsible for reporting all expenses and provide supporting receipts in a timely manner.

Tools and Continued Education:

Understanding technology and application

  • SharePoint: RSD is responsible to understand and use the Company Datenpool/SharePoint.
  • Continuing Education/Trade Journals and Conferences: RSDs are encouraged to pursue opportunities to enhance their understanding and expertise as related to Company offerings and congruent with the requirements of RSD. Priority is given to primary sales duties.
  • Understanding Competition: RSD is responsible for understanding competing technologies. RSD is to report any new developments.
  • Regulations and Trends: RSD is responsible for monitoring emerging markets and government agencies regulations that affect Company offered technology. RSD is to report any new developments.

Required Education and/or experience:

  • BS in a technical or engineering discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience selling wastewater products into the Municipal Market
  • Experience working with manufacturer’s representatives
  • Exposure to sales, sales management, and/or project management

The Regional Sales Director should have the ability to research and analyze geographic markets for Huber products, technologies, customers and competitors. He/she should have the depth of experience to understand the municipal sales process and where our products fit in the market. He/she should be results-oriented and be able to drive the implementation of ideas.

Physical demands:

RSD should be located in his/her respective territory and close to a major airport. This position will require 75% travel within the assigned territory and occasional trips to Europe.

The RSD should be capable of working under pressure to meet bid deadlines. He/she will encounter extensive travel and need to be able physically to meet the rigors of airplane and driving requiring sitting for extended periods in the course of their job duties. In addition, the RSD needs to be able perform necessary duties at Tradeshows and conference locations. They must be able to concentrate for extended periods paying close attention to detail. The RSD must possess sufficient verbal, auditory, and visual capabilities to adequately communicate via phone and in person as well in Client and Company presentations. The RSD must be able to move freely from client site, to field sites and the office and manufacturing facility. The RSD must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

The RSD must be able to perform other duties as assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Consistency in attendance is crucial due to the demands of customers and bid schedules. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for the position of RSD.

Work Environment:

Typical work environment is home office base with required trips to HQ in Denver, NC, customer sites, Germany, etc. Mobile work is required while traveling from airplanes to hotel settings and in Client settings. Job sites require adherence to all safety regulations and current vaccinations for the field of wastewater. Exposure to hot, cold, weather changes are the norm when traveling.
