Your Impact at SAM: The Regional Safety Coordinator supports all field related safety needs of assigned branches to include training, pre-job planning, safety observation and auditing, policy and procedure enforcement, advising branch managers and related staff with regard to policy requirements and incident review and investigation. This role reports to and informs the Safety Director of safety related matters.
  • Facilitate employee safety onboarding and other training for client required training, Task/hazard specific training (CSE, H2S), etc.
  • Plan Pre-Job Safety for client specific / site specific safety planning (ie.e AEP - SSP & Emergency Plan)
  • Plan Pre-Job Safety for SAM Risk Assessment and Mitigation Plan
  • Have an on-site safety presence by kicking off safety meetings, attending client project safety meetings and field safety auditing
  • Collect incident information and log to SAM reporting system
  • Track and report on the following SAM programs:
    • Weekly Safety Meeting compliance
    • JHA compliance
    • Observation, HPI, Near Miss compliance
    • Driver performance and score cards
    • Safety orientation status and compliance
    • Audit tracking, data entry and compliance
  • Travel to and work from supported office on regular basis to establish safety presence at each
  • Assist Compliance Specialist and Safety Admin with the following:
    • Maintain detailed working knowledge of the SAM-University system and act as backup to Safety Admin for all training related requests for central region
    • Assist in coordinating application of substance abuse testing program
    • Assist in coordinating PPE and safety supply inventory for central region offices
  • Assist the Director of Health and Safety with the following:
    • Client and 3rd party audits for covered region
    • Attend and participate in industry, regulatory and client specific safety forms/conferences as directed by the HSE Director
    • Internal and external presentations related to department performance and statistics for covered region
    • Creation of Client Specific Safety Compliance policies for covered region
    • Field incoming requests for client specific safety information for covered region
    • Assessment and development of new Safety Department initiatives
  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company’s strategic goals
What You Bring to SAM:
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) (preferred)
  • Degree in Health and Safety related field (preferred)
  • Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
