The Regional Child Care Coordinator will support and promote related policies, concepts, and practices regarding coordinated care of children to enhance the delivery of treatment services and recovery supports and to improve outcomes. This subject matter expert is responsible for leading efforts to ensure that there is regional coordination across multiple agencies to support the development and implementation of a coordinated system of care for children.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide training on care coordination, continuity of care, and Wraparound to system partners, such as Child Protective Investigators, case managers, Children’s Crisis Stabilization Units and inpatient hospitals, and law enforcement.
• Provide technical assistance and consultation to the Local and Regional Review Team child staffings.
• Facilitate monthly meetings with Medicaid managed care plans to identify high utilizers of crisis services and maintain consistent communication with managed care plans.
• Collaborate with children’s crisis stabilization units and inpatient hospitals to identify high utilizers of crisis services.
• Disseminate or provide linkage to information on Recovery Oriented System of Care and Certified Recovery Peer Specialist.
• Engage stakeholders and assist with navigation of the mental health system and address systemic barriers to care.
• Monitor systemic partner collaboration and involvement.
• Support the “no-wrong-door model” for the delivery of acute care services to children who have mental health or substance use disorders, or both, which optimizes access to care, regardless of the entry point to the behavioral health care system.
• Collect data for submission to the Statewide Child Care Coordinator
• Liaison to Child Welfare (child protective investigators, abuse hotline staff, community-based care lead agencies, case managers, etc.) to provide linkages to community services and supports, especially for Parent Needs Assistance calls.

Qualifications:

• 3 years working as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist (Youth or Family endorsement preferred) or
• 3 years working in the behavioral health field with a Bachelors in a Health and Human Services related field.
• 3-5 years’ experience in clinical or community mental health settings preferred
• Previous Care Coordination or Case Management experience preferred
• Experience with navigation human service systems preferred
• Previous experience with mental health systems and data reports preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of community mental health services
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to demonstrate strong essential leadership, communication, education and collaboration and counseling skills.
• Ability to communicate proficiently through technology (email, cell phone, etc.)
• Ability to identify and implement appropriate communication strategies and overcome accessibility barriers, as required.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

• Thorough understanding of multiple systems (Department of Juvenile Justice, Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Medicaid, children’s crisis stabilization units and inpatient hospitals, child welfare)
• Knowledge of current involuntary examination process, regulations, and statutes for minors

This position may require travel within the Southeast Region (Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, Okeechobee, Indian River and St. Lucie Counties).

Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.
