Andexxa is an innovative and unique product for patients with life-threatening bleeds. Andexxa is a recombinant modified human factor Xa (FXa) protein indicated for patients treated with rivaroxaban or apixaban, when reversal of anticoagulation is needed due to life-threatening or uncontrolled bleeding.
Andexxa is the FIRST AND ONLY approved Factor Xa inhibitor reversal agent and has demonstrated transformative clinical value by rapidly reversing the anticoagulant effects of Factor Xa inhibitors rivaroxaban and apixaban in severe and uncontrolled bleeding.
Position Summary
As a member of the Regional Payer and Health Systems Team, The Regional Account Director - Andexxa is accountable for leading a team of Regional Account Leaders to deliver and implement access strategies and tactics aimed at creating access with selected Hospital Accounts, Institutions/IDNs (Integrated Delivery Networks). The Director will navigate an extremely complex access and reimbursement environment ensure clarity for team that leads to success. The individual must have the ability to work cross functionally and collaboratively to ensure objectives are reached.
RAD will collaborate with the contract strategy team and the pricing operations team to execute against AZ’s brand imperatives on Andexxa. This role will establish collaborative relationships by targeting the appropriate influencers and decision-makers in health systems. Additionally, the KAD will be responsible for encouraging positive relationships, driving negotiations directly with the customer, and encouraging growth through collaborative partnerships.
Summary of Primary Responsibilities
- Leads a team of field based Regional Account Leaders assigned to IDN, academic, and community health system accounts.
- Leads as a player coach, supporting with high priority targets to ensure access success.
- Develops and maintains strong working business partnerships with C-Suite and influential leaders in senior management at the customer, with a goal of understanding unique business needs, model, and strategic challenges.
- Understands complex reimbursement pathways and can coach teams on nuance of reimbursement discussions with customers.
- Consistently demonstrates strong business acumen, ability to prioritize accounts for impact, and ability to understand care networks and how to leverage networks for broader geographic success.
- Leads team to develop clear account plans with a focus on delivering results. Can hold team accountable for outcome based performance and consistent account progression. Assesses business plan progress, and conducts reviews across the organization.
- Understands contracting strategies and has experience in contract negotiation. Ensures any contracting activity aligns with AZ organizational standards.
- Works with the highest degree of professionalism and in accordance with the company’s code of Ethics and Business Conduct.
- Partners with Andexxa Brand, Medical, Market Access, and Sales Leadership to align strategies and ensure strong collaboration of team across broader AZ commercial teams. Ensures team alignment to strategies.
- Partners across the Regional Payer and Health Systems RAD and Sr. Directors to ensure AZ portfolio alignment and success within shared accounts.
- Navigates and interprets the external environment, identifying business opportunities, allocating resources and reviewing implementation.
- Identify opportunities for partnership and solutions for the health system through AZ brands and capabilities
Essential qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 8-10 years demonstrated expertise in the pharmaceutical payer space, with direct Health Systems experience navigating across key health systems customer groups
- Demonstrated experience in complex environments (market access, payer, reimbursement or other)
- Demonstrated track record of strategic impact in defining and executing complex customer experience roadmaps while driving for innovative results
- Proven experience leading high level strategic business initiatives at a global or regional level while working collaboratively
- Deep understanding of MACRA, MIPS, Advanced Payment Models and other government factors impacting health systems
- Direct contracting experience and success in establishing formulary access within health system

- Possesses strong business acumen negotiation and presentation skills
- Exemplary interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated effectiveness working independently and in groups including cross functional teams and internal/external networking driving a collaborative culture
- Highly results focused
- Flexibility and agility, while maintaining a strong positive attitude in a constantly changing environment
- Ability and willingness to meet critical deadlines
- Displays drive for success
- Ability to travel minimum 70+% of the time
