Job Description

Major Duties

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The incumbent is responsible for opening/closing the Recreation Centers Program facility and maintaining the customers sign in log. Answers phones and takes messages as needed. Answers questions regarding the Recreation Centers, Single Marine Program (SMP) and upcoming events. Ensures the facility is left clean at the end of the shift by putting all food/drinks away/thrown away; empties trash, sweeps and mops floors as needed. Shows first time customers what the facility has to offer. Maintains a daily log book to report information to the Recreation Center Manager and Supervisors. Inputs data into a database to maintain accurate data for volunteers, Recreation Center attendance and programs. Maintains daily attendance information in an electronic spreadsheet and types announcements as needed. Ensures the comfort and morale of the Marines/Sailors in the facility.

Adheres to Department’s Internal Control procedures to include property and cash handling. May be responsible for driving Marines/Sailors as needed on trips, shuttle service, or other MCCS activities. May set up various equipment for recreational use by Marines/Sailors, i.e. video games, outdoor movie theater.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

One year experience in any type of work which demonstrates the ability to perform the work or experience which provided a general basic knowledge of recreational activities and customer service. Must have basic computer skills. Ability to obtain a Government Driver’s license required. Skill to learn applicable MCCS policies and procedures. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Must be certified in CPR within 3 months of employment.
