Responsibilities

Provides technical expertise in Diagnostic Radiographic procedures. Under the direction of a registered radiology technologist in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the CHI St Alexius Medical Center.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities
  • Successfully performs clinical procedures while working with a registered technologist
  • Follows established radiation safety protocols for patient and staff
  • Demonstrates professional practice standards
  • Provides appropriate patient care for all Radiology patient needs
  • Assists with the department standards for Radiology equipment
  • Other Duties as assigned by management



Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels

Current enrollment as a second year student of an approved School of Radiologic Technology. Must meet school of radiology program competencies for all routine radiographic procedures and specialty work.


Required Licensure and Certifications


Certification:

Basic Life Support Certification (CPR- Healthcare Provider) within 480 hours of employment and meets re-certification as required.


Licensure:

Not applicable for enrolled students. Pursuing registry through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. (Student is registry eligible after completing an approved Radiologic Technology program

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Computer skills



2. Clerical skills

3. Radiography skills obtained in approved School of Radiologic Technology


Interpersonal Skills:

Relates well with staff, patients, physicians and visitors

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Maintains confidentiality


Physical Effort:

Medium work level. Involves a maximum physical effort requirement of 50 pounds. Ability to wear lead shield aprons for extended periods of time, transport carts, stand for extended periods of time, walk from place to place and push patient related equipment. Must be able to position patient from a standing position. Frequent patient lifting.


PREFERRED Qualifications

One year experience as a student in an approved Radiologic Technologist Program. Must complete competency testing as established by the program director or clinical instructor.
