Manage the Quality Control and Assurance program for Canadian Division reporting administratively to General Manager of Canada Operations and functionally to N.A. Quality Director. Overall responsibility for managing the Canadian Quality Organization, developing the Quality Management Plans, implementation of our client’s Management System and overall quality performance within projects. Verify project quality objectives are being met and that quality requirements are delivered as per contract referenced specifications and standards.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Be available as a primary contact for quality matters
  • Be responsible for all quality induction and training program for all personnel involved in the performance of the works
  • Be responsible for and to develop and maintain the Quality Management Plan
  • Be given authority by the Project Manager to act freely and independently and to stop the progress of the relevant part of the works when any non-conformance with the quality requirements of the contract is identified
  • Ensure the promotion, awareness and compliance to Quality is maintained throughout project in accordance with the Management System.
  • Effectively interprets contract quality requirements to establish inspection, testing and quality service activities for projects.
  • Ensure Document Control Compliance is maintained throughout project in accordance with the Management System
  • Ensuring the promotion and awareness of Client referenced Quality Standards throughout the Project
  • Communicate any non-conformance and defect that may impact safety assurance requirements for design, construction, commissioning, maintenance or operation
  • Monitor the project quality objectives, targets, KPI’s and related programs including status of quality NCR’s, reworks, and defects
  • Liaise with other Discipline Managers during the course of the project to ascertain integration of quality as part of the Project activities.
  • Interfaces with corporate advisors for technical support in welding, coating, civil, electrical, instrumentation, documentation and other quality related practices and applications and keeps the Corporate Management informed of issues, challenges and opportunities.
  • Coordinates with Corporate Welding/Mech Advisor and/or with third party agencies for qualifying weld procedures, welder certifications.
  • Assist with the quality component of suppliers’ procurement processes.
  • Selects, coordinates assignment of and manages all Quality Personnel who perform audit, inspection, surveillance, and/or testing activities for projects executed within Canada region.
  • Monitor NCR’s, test results trends and other sources of deficiencies and subsequently investigate and initiate corrective & preventive actions.
  • Ensure the approval of ITP’s prior to implementation.
  • Prepare and maintain the project quality audit schedule. Performs audits as per the schedule
  • Provide feedback on Contractors suppliers quality performance to the Project Team and Construction Managers.
  • Attend and input quality issues into weekly internal project meetings, external client meeting, kick-off meetings and chair pre-inspection meetings prior to commencement of manufacture.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports to Project Manager / Client / Director of Quality
  • Provide guidance on compliance strategies, relating to documentation in accordance with project specifications and referenced standards;
  • Ensures the review and input into ITP’s, Technical Specification / Data sheets, SOWs, RFQs, RFAs, DDSRs, VDRs, Method Statements, Construction Work Packs, to ensure correct quality criteria;
  • Ensures the surveillance planning and scheduling activities are developed and implemented

You should possess the following:

  • 10+ years minimum experience in similar role; of which
  • 5+ years site-based experience in construction / engineering / fabrication environment
  • Trade Qualifications or Applicable Degree / Diploma within Engineering
  • Relevant Inspection qualification eg: Electrical, Mechanical, Welding, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Coating, Structural, Pressure Equipment
  • Lead Auditor Certificate
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel and Word (additional MS Access experience is preferred)
  • Proven communication skills to foster an environment of teamwork with common goals.
  • Good written communication and reporting skills with proper use of grammar and spelling.
