Corporate Quality Manager
Position Summary:
The Corporate Quality Manager advises plants of customer requirements and the level of customer satisfaction in meeting those requirements. This includes monitoring and providing feedback to plants on quality performance and taking action to assist in improving performance. Be the voice for customer on new initiatives, and to provide action plans to conform to those initiatives. Represent IAC in customer meetings on a leadership level. Fulfill “Assignment” based senior management requests and provide launch support to divisions as needed.
The Corporate Quality Manager will lead the development and improvement of standardized quality processes and initiatives that will have measurable impact on customer satisfaction, productivity, cost of poor quality, and people development/training. As a member of the corporate quality team, the Corporate Quality Manager will be an active participant in the development and execution of the quality department strategic plan. This position will have a broad scope of responsibility in the quality arena with focused accountability in functional applications, data analysis, and KPI achievement. The Corporate Quality Manager will foster an environment that leads to collaboration and buy in from key stakeholders, achieves alignment with organizational goals, and provides leadership in a way that increases and promotes the quality culture of the company
Responsibilities:
- Monitor, provide feedback, and assist IAC plants with action plans to improve quality performance
- Audit and assess manufacturing processes and recommend improvements
- Participate and/or lead problem solving activities
- Train and mentor division Quality Managers and Engineers
- APQP/Launch support, assist in PPAP as needed, auditing to ensure all requirements are fulfilled
- Audit divisions for compliance to standards, quality requirements and customer expectations
- Train divisions on customer systems/portals (e.g. Ford Supplier Portal, GM SupplyPower, etc)
- Ensure IAC plants are fairly represented in quality or warranty issues with customers as required
- Assist plants in developing resource plans as needed in support of projects or customer needs
- Assist in problem resolution for user requests in OEM websites, internal systems, etc.
- Actively participate and add value to quality leadership meetings to establish short and long term plans to improve the quality management system
- Support development projects as an expert in QMS standards, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Internal Audit, Management Review, etc.
- Lead/participate in onboarding process for new key quality personnel
- Lead corrective action teams as assigned in completing data analysis, failure analysis, root cause identification and corrective and preventive actions
- Responsible for the coordination and reporting of quality metrics to the organization that indicate customer satisfaction and the effectiveness of the quality management systems
- Analyze data and create proposals and feasible action plans to identify future risks and correct negative trends. Use analysis to initiate improvement projects at manufacturing sites with quality team
- Assist in ISO/TS audit preparation as requested
Education/Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) undergraduate degree or equivalent in a technical discipline
- 8+ years of experience in quality assurance roles, including experience as a Plant Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. The ability to gain internal and customer's respect as a leader and problem solver is essential
- Effective negotiating skill
- Be organized and use good judgement
- Self-starting (have initiative) and strong leader with a successful track record of accomplishment
- Working knowledge of automotive industry quality standards -VDA, AIAG, APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, etc
- Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while under pressure of deadlines and provide a high degree of accuracy
- Must be a team player, highly motivated, and experienced in working with a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, and integrity in all aspects of the job
- Ability to exercise initiative, common sense and maintain effective internal and external working relationships
- Exhibit drive and high personal expectations of getting results both individually and as part of a team
- Must consistently demonstrate a high degree of flexibility and versatility
- High level of interpersonal and leadership skills with capability to influence, coach, and partner across multiple levels of an organization
- Strong proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Share Point, etc.
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to travel frequently within North America
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, travel to plants in US, Canada and occasionally Mexico required.
