Printpack, an essential company, is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Quality Lead. The position will be located in the Grand Prairie Films location and will report to the Quality Manager.

The ideal candidate must be able to help administer information and data to support the quality assurance effort within a manufacturing facility. They must have excellent organization, technical, computer, and communication skills that will support the site’s quality processes and coordinate customer issues. Partner with Quality Manager in Leadership of QC Department focusing on continual improvement, optimum customer satisfaction and timely resolution of non-conforming products. Provide assistance during investigations of quality issues found both internally and externally to determine root cause and corrective actions to prevent future recurrence and lead the auditing corrective actions for effectiveness.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing and/or plant environment or similar work experience

  • Experience in a customer service role, particularly in a quality assurance environment, is desired.

Required knowledge, experience, skills:

  • Process minded; high degree of knowledge of blown/cast film processes.

  • Ability to accurately and effectively use lab equipment, measuring tools and test equipment.

  • Computer experience; ability to use standard office software. Working knowledge of Prism, CAR/PAR/NCR and CFS2.

  • Proven leadership and ownership skills.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the plant.

  • Capable of making sound decisions.

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to read, understand and revise manufacturing instructions.

  • Understand and interpret specifications and apply them to the job.

  • Familiarity with safety procedures and the importance of compliance with those procedures.

  • Ability to successfully lead and manage teams, as well as individual associates.

  • Strong ability to enhanced standardization skills within the department.

  • Strong, effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able and willing to train others.

  • Strong orientation toward customer service.

  • Strong organizational, follow-up and analytical problem solving skills.

  • Adept at working under tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee functions of QC Techs and all processes within their responsibility.

  • Daily sending of COAs and samples as required

  • Drive positive attitude and morale

  • Coordinate, motivate and assist with QC Lab Technician coverage and work time, including scheduling of vacations within the department. Cover vacations and call-in’s on all other shifts as required.

  • Kronos timecard approvals.

  • Timely reviews of QC Department Associates

  • Monitor department budget, total expenses and overtime cost control.

  • Requisitioning of materials and services for the Quality Department.

  • Daily Quality Huddle (Gemba walk) of Q status materials

  • Coordinate and communicate data to internal customers for non-conforming materials, complete the disposition of QA hold materials both physically and in PRISM.

  • Participates as a team player who respectfully communicates, shares knowledge and cooperates with other team members to support continuous improvement. Work closely with all associates to improve plant processes, to aid in the efficient production of quality products, and reduce and prevent customer complaints. Assists Quality and Technical personnel during job history investigations.

  • Lead the auditing of corrective actions for effectiveness, both from CAR/PAR/NCR and CFS2.

  • Compile and distribute applicable reports, including trend analysis of internal issues.

  • Understand and complete accurate work in computer database programs including PRISM, CAR/PAR/NCR and CFS2 investigations.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working area. Practice and maintain 5S principles in the QC Lab and storage of job jacket and line retains for timely retrieval.

  • Additional duties as assigned including supplying other customer needs internally or externally.

  • Customer and/or business travel may be required.

  • Back-up functions: Add/Review test preferences in PRISM for accuracy to product specification, process control limits, process controls are activated and functioning, and raw material traceability. Cycle count of all Q status materials.
