Quality Control Technician

Position
OverviewTilcon Connecticut has an opening for an experienced Quality Control Technician. The hours and location for this position are variable with weekend work required as needed. As a Quality Control Technician, the selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers. Our core values are safety, quality and integrity in everything we do. All Tilcon Connecticut employees are expected to partner with associates and management of Tilcon Connecticut Inc. to coordinate, support, and actively promote our safety processes. The Quality Control Technician will report directly to the Assistant Quality Control Supervisor and will comply with mandatory safety requirements and other functions of the quality control team.
Key
Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Safely and efficiently work in a quality control capacity and report any problems to the supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for collecting, measuring and testing of materials for construction projects including hot mix asphalt, soils sampling, aggregate sampling, core sampling, density testing, laboratory testing and mix design.
  • Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and / or MSHA.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
  • Report to work at the designated start time and stay through end of shift.
  • Be able to work overtime when required.
  • Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold and occasionally at heights.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma required.
  • A.S. degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Desired: New England Transportation Technician Certification in HMA field/plant is desirable.
  • Desired: 1 year experience in quality control testing desired but not required.

Work Requirements
  • Clean DMV record
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical.
