Essential Duties and Position Responsibilities:
Schedule and perform chemical assays on incoming raw material that is used in the production of company products according to official compendium and BD Test Procedures.
Perform chemical and microbial assays on samples from all stages of the manufacturing process for each product line according to BD Test Procedures.
Requires knowledge of chemistry and experience with test methods and procedures.
Complete in process Quality Control test reports and Inspection Procedures.
Set up and maintain logbooks where necessary.
Daily monitoring of laboratory equipment (i.e., refrigerators, analytical balances, and systems).
Ensure calibrations and maintenance are performed on department equipment
Support and assist in the development of lean thinking programs and participate in the implementation of these programs throughout the facility as required
Maintain a good attendance and on-time record as outlined in the Attendance Guidelines for our facility
The ability to work overtime
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required:
High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry or Microbiology preferred.
2-3 years “bench-top” laboratory experience preferred.
Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
One or more years of experience working in a medical device or other regulated industry
Must have ability to read, write, interpret, comprehend, and consistently follow specifications written in English
Computer literacy particularly with databases and spreadsheets / basic ability to use Microsoft Office required
Familiarity with the operation of the following is preferred:
Viscometer
Programmable UV/VIS Spectrophotometer
Ether Extraction
Kjeldahl Systems
pH meter
LAL Gel-Clot
Familiarity with Environmental Monitoring/Aseptic Technique
Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
