This is a fast pace job shop environment that requires quick turnaround to support our customer needs. The Quality Control Lead is responsible for verifying product quality to customer specific requirements along with providing leadership in defining and improving core processes and projects within the Quality department.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- lnspect and approve raw materials, first articles, in-process articles and finished products to specifications using supplied prints when applicable, conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials and communicating required adjustments to Shop Supervisor and/or set-up machinist.
- Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and scrap, inputs data into Quality Database.
- Coordinate with Quality Manager in dealing with RMA's/credit request.
- Perform and maintain calibration records and frequency of calibration updates.
- Contact customers and suppliers when dealing with quality issues and/or non-conformance requests.
- Compile and review data on production quality and direct costs. Evaluate findings, and participate as appropriate in activities to promote quality and reduce costs.
- Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective action for all quality related issues.
- Address scrap reduction; collaborate with all department leads, Quality Director and Shop Supervisor to develop and implement
- specific scrap related programs and projects.
- Performs other work as directed by supervision.

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications:
- 3+ years of Quality Inspection experience, preferably in a machining job shop environment.
- Quality certification a plus.
- Proficient in basic computer software (Microsoft Windows XP Office, Excel).
- Proficient in using basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth micrometers, height gages, plug/ring gages, thread gages).
- Basic proficiency in CMM use and supporting software.
- Experience with calibration software.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
- Ability to train team members.
- Ability to drive and implement change.
- Multi-tasking skills are a must.
- Must have strong communication skills.
Physical Demands:
- Sitting, standing and walking for extended periods is common.
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Moderate reaching, pushing, pulling, gripping, and grasping.
- Good manual dexterity and eye sight for the use of common gauging tools and office equipment.
Work Environment:
- Production floor with exposure to dust, noise and other machine shop variables.
