PLY GEM - The Quality Auditor is responsible for all aspects of product quality and the facility quality system. Associate performs audits on processes, products, and packages to prevent substandard material from leaving the facility. Individual brings issues forward for prompt resolution to reduce downtime, control costs and reduce, if not prevent, customer complaints. Associate performs tests and inspections, prepares summarizations and communicates and reports audit findings to appropriate personnel.

Schedule: Night Crew (6am to 6pm) 12 hour rotating schedule.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Complete all tasks as assigned by the Quality Department Leadership.
2. Perform all necessary quality audits on production activities. Report any identified issue to appropriate personnel for prompt resolution.
3. Provide first level support to Production Associates on various quality matters.
4. Provide training to Production Associates regarding product quality.
5. Perform data entry activities for different quality data reports as required in a timely and efficient manner.
6. Perform surveillance audits of vendor quality. Notify appropriate personnel of any issues that arise so prompt corrective action can be taken.
7. Assist in developing and maintaining of Quality records and retention. Provide assistance in preparation of various Quality documents as required.
8. Assist in the investigation of customer product returns and with the field product complaint resolution process.
9. Communicate effectively with team leaders, supervisors and associates on other shifts regarding pertinent issues.
10. Provide support and communicate effectively with external Customer, Field Sales, Marketing, and Warranty personnel.
11. Work closely with departmental supervisor on priorities to eliminate obstacles that would prevent product in getting to the customer in a timely manner. Provide support as needed to ensure 100% accuracy and ensure customer satisfaction. Responsible for quality, productivity and safety in all given assignments.
12. Strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of quality activities.
13. Organize and maintain all work areas in a neat and orderly fashion. Encourage accountability with peers and others to ensure quality of performance.
14. Properly manage all wastes generated, including segregation of recyclable materials and segregation of hazardous wastes by type. Take steps to minimize the amount of waste generated.
15. Report any safety violation or issues to the supervisor immediately for prompt resolution. Help promote good housekeeping with assigned area through participation in assigned 5S zone(s). Maintain compliance with all EHS/5S protocols.
16. Punch time clock before and after shift to record time worked.
17. Perform other related duties and assignments as required.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

1. Maintain supplies at workstation
2. Provide cross-training for a back-up in the Quality Auditor position.
3. Attend weekly shift meetings and/or monthly plant meetings, if required.
4. Actively participate in all plant safety programs, depending on location.
5. Notify department supervisor if proper tools are not furnished to complete job functions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: One year of previous manufacturing experience. Must have computer experience,

Knowledge: Must be able to read, write and be able to perform basic math skills as job duties require. Must have or develop knowledge of Ply Gem brand aluminum product performance and installation characteristics.

Mental/Physical/Visual Demands: Must possess common sense, positive attitude, organizational skills, above average written communication skills, and excellent attendance. Must have excellent verbal communication skills and be able to communicate professionally and effectively with plant, corporate, vendor, and customer personnel. Must be quality and safety conscious, a team player and demonstrate a strong desire to get the job done. Must be able to work quickly with product and able to lift 50 pounds maximum. Must be able to use and interpret readings of test equipment (i.e. calipers, micrometers, calorimeter, etc.)

Working Conditions: Manufacturing environment with exposure to equipment noise, temperature extremes, and dust. Position requires continual lifting, standing, pulling, pushing, reaching, bending, twisting and walking.

Equipment/Tools Used: Required personal protective equipment and motorized equipment.

Safety: Safe work performance is required from each Associate at all times. Additionally, the proper discharge of safety responsibilities is an integral part of each Associate's performance appraisal.

Associate visually inspects extruded product for consistent appearance and length according to defined standards. Associate ensures product consistency and standards including but not limited to proper counts, packing patterns, packing enclosures and carton construction and labels. Associate packs finished product into cartons and places cartons on finished product skids. Associate maintains paperwork as required.
