A&E is responsible for the development of scope, design and construction documents for capital improvement projects at existing schools, and for feasibility studies, programming, design and construction documents for new school buildings, additions and lease conversions. A&E also provides ongoing professional services for construction administration during the projects' construction phase.

Responsibilities include:
- Develop contract documents and other documents for in-house new construction and renovation projects.
- Analyze and document existing conditions in order to develop scope reports for in-house school construction projects.
- Review designs, construction contract requirements, and shop drawings for technical sufficiency.
- Review scope reports, contract documents, and other documents that are developed by consultants working in conjunction with the NYCSCA on school construction projects.
- Supervise lower-level architects or engineers while under the overall supervision of a licensed architect or engineer, respectively.
- Conduct site visits to compare actual construction with design drawings, contract plans and specifications, Authority quality standards, building codes, and industry practice.
- Recommend appropriate construction practices to improve job quality and/or adherence to design, costs, and established schedules.
- Prepare written quality assurance construction evaluations based on site inspection.
- Attend quality control meetings with project officers, contractors, and construction specialists.

Salary:
Appointment Rate: $70,457 - $103,710
Incumbent Rate: $81,026 - $119,266
Subject to the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the appointment rate for any newly hired employee, or employees with less than two years of active City or SCA service, shall be 15% less than the applicable incumbent rate or step .
Education Baccalaureate: Architecture, Engineering, or Applied Sciences Certifications (if required) Work Experience Three years of full-time experience in construction, quality assurance, or project management; or a satisfactory combination of education and experience. Selective Certification for Specialty Experience. Those specialty areas are:(1) Architectural;(2) Structural;(3) Mechanical (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning [HVAC]);(4) Plumbing and Drainage; and(5) Electrical. In order to be considered for a specialty area, you must qualify for the overall exam as well as meet the following minimum requirements: A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with major course work specifically in Architecture or Engineering; and three years of full-time experience performing design-related work within one of the specialty areas. This experience may also count toward the full-time experience required to qualify for the overall exam.Applicants who receive a conditional offer of employment must provide proof of being fully vaccinated with an approved COVID-19 vaccine before their start date.
