Job Description

What does a great QA Architect do?

A QA Architect provides technical leadership for manual and automated testing. A successful candidate in this role will lead the automation test effort, provide technical leadership in design and architecture of automation frameworks, and ensure adoption of the frameworks in the organization. They should be an expert in modern testing techniques and tools, including automation.

As a QA Architect, you will:

  • Have ownership for the architecture of the test automation solution, designing automation frameworks, creating a test strategy, and leading the implementation of test plans and actual test execution.
  • Support script development and the ongoing maintenance of those scripts.
  • Recommend new tools, techniques and methodologies needed to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Evaluate, select and formulate best usage of test automation tools and future alignment for different products and applications.
  • Develop an automation strategy to support smoke and regression testing based on technical analysis, complexity, reusability, and risk.
  • Work with the product owner and developers to assess and resolve technical issues in the product.
  • Respond appropriately and competently to the demands of work challenges when confronted with changes, ambiguity, adversity, and other pressures.

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:

  • 10 years+ work experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
  • Good knowledge in object-oriented programming in languages like Java and JavaScript, using tools like Gitlab, Maven, and Eclipse.
  • Demonstrated skill in using coding standards and being an active participant in code reviews.
  • Expert in automation frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, Selenium, and Appium.
  • UI test automation expertise with responsive web applications built with .NET, React, and Angular.
  • Experience with web service API testing of XML, REST, and SOAP using tools like REST Assured, Postman, or SoapUI.
  • Experience using of SQL to interact with relational databases like SQL Server.
  • Expertise in testing back-end batch services.
  • Proficiency in measuring code coverage of web UI and back-end applications, reporting in SonarQube, and collaborating with development to improve coverage.
  • Expertise with cloud development (Azure, AWS, Pivotal), DevOps orchestration/deployment (Jenkins, Octopus), and reporting (Power BI, Report Portal).
  • Thorough understanding and hands on experience in developing and enhancing automation testing frameworks.
  • Skill in building and using test simulators, mocks, and drivers.
  • Experienced in agile/scrum development using Jira.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis abilities.

Preferred Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Experience in the banking and payments domain.
  • Knowledge in accessibility, security, and performance testing is a definite plus.
  • Passion for achieving excellence in technical, process, product quality and reliability.
  • Must be extremely detail and technology oriented and possess excellent communications skills.
  • Programming/Development experience desired but not required.
