This position facilitates Food Safety, Quality, GMP, and Safe Workplace requirements within the manufacturing environment. Focus of this position is to be a “Qualified Trainer” and coordinate with suppliers of packaging and raw materials. Manufacturing environment experience required.
Essential Duties:
- Coordinates with FSQ staff and/or production operators for packaging and raw materials found out of spec or new which includes, but not limited to:
- Contacting suppliers with issues
- Placing items in HOLD
- Scheduling returns and samples
- Entering supplier issues in the TMS document system
- Review of supplier documents in Trace Gains
- Notification of suppliers when documents need updated
- Verification of supplier documents and specification
- Taking measurements of packaging when suspected of being out of specification
- Maintaining a register of all labels
- Verification of labels at time of receipt
- Approve Contract Service Provider documentation
- Monitor items near expiration
- Trains new employees, current employees, and visitors on Food Safety, Quality, GMP, and Safe Workplace requirements. This includes maintaining current training materials for all employees and maintaining records of training.
- Cross training is a requirement for this position and the Quality Coordinator will be able to fill in as needed for the Quality Technicians in the laboratory and on the manufacturing floor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Works with manufacturing employees to ensure correct food safety, quality, and safe workplace procedures are understood and followed
- Works with cleaning team members to ensure correct food safety, quality, and safe workplace procedures are understood and followed
- Knows when corrective action is necessary, as well as the appropriate corrective action procedures
- Initiates appropriate corrective action as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
- Re-testing of product
- Placing product on hold
- Production line shutdown
- Requesting machine adjustments
- Entering data into the supplier scorecard system
- Rework
- Accurate recording and maintenance of Food Safety, Quality, and Safety documents
- Monitor and maintain FSQ and Safety related inventories (cleaning supplies, PPE, etc.)
- Organize and maintain the FSQ retention sample library
- Creation of Food Safety, Quality, and Safety documents and records (e.g. procedures, checklists, charts, graphs); in conjunction with document and record control procedures
- Present Food Safety, Quality, and Safety information as needed (e.g. production meetings, management meetings)
- Strive for continuous improvement of current Food Safety, Quality, and Safety systems, along with implementation of new systems
- Perform Food Safety & Quality lab testing as needed (e.g. Co2, pH, titration, density, receiving)
- Be knowledgeable on Federal, State, Local, and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) guidelines
- Participate in Mock Recall/Trace exercises
- Participate in Monthly Facility inspections
- Member of the Internal Audit team
- Complete daily walk-through of the manufacturing facility
- Assist with external audits
