Our global locations include 66 manufacturing and distribution centers in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, China, Australia, and New Zealand with over 4,000 employees.

We are currently searching for a Purchasing and Warehouse Manager to be based out of Wayne, MI. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position's overall purpose is to actively oversee daily purchasing, to include, raw material management, and warehousing operations, to include inventory management, associated with the Wayne facility & RDC. Furthermore, this role will also play a key role in overall inventory management with continuous improvements through safe operating practices, product availability, waste reduction, cost saving initiatives, and cultural breakthroughs.

The ideal candidate will have extensive manufacturing experience with significant proven management experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is a plus.

Additional Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and modify standardized work and ensure consistent application by all team members
  • Own Commercial Metric reporting and process improvement
  • Oversee Cycle Count process
  • Achieve Key Performance Indicator reporting while actively participating in Lean Daily Management activities
  • Uphold and enforce all Company policies and procedures, and ensure compliance from responsible team members
  • Foster a work environment that encourages teamwork and promotes high levels of self-esteem and winning attitudes
  • Actively oversee daily purchasing, to include, raw material management, and warehousing operations, to include inventory management, associated with the Wayne facility & RDC
  • Responsible for overall inventory management with continuous improvements through safe operating practices, product availability, waste reduction, cost saving initiatives, and cultural breakthroughs
  • Own, manage, and supervise teams responsible for the supply chain and procurement of materials in support of production processes & inventory warehousing functions
  • Responsible for Packing and Shipping department hourly personnel
  • Communicate job expectations; plan, monitor, and appraise job results; coach, counsel, and discipline employees when appropriate; initiate, coordinate, and challenge systems, policies, and procedures
  • Develop and drive transformational enhancements to Packing and Shipping tools, processes, and methods, to improve safety, quality, and productivity
  • Partner with EHS and/or HR support to investigate, resolve, and provide corrective measures for accidents, injuries, production, and personnel issues
  • Adhere to and drive accountability of all Life Saving Rules, including: Lock-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO), Machine Guarding/Bypassing Safety Controls, and Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety protocols
  • Ensure Safety, Delivery, Quality, and Cost metrics are being met daily
  • Support and drive accountability of 5S initiatives in assigned work areas
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Management or equivalent work experience in Purchasing, Inventory Control, and/or Supply Chain Management within a manufacturing environment
  • 3-5 years’ supervisory experience
  • 5+ years’ manufacturing experience preferred (Metal Stamping preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • AS400, MAPICS, and/or JD Edwards ERP experience preferred
  • Six Sigma/Lean Management experience preferred
  • Advanced math and verbal skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to recognize and address both exceptional and poor performance with tact and professionalism
  • Detail-oriented, with high self-standards for exceeding daily objectives with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to recognize and address both exceptional and poor performance with tact and professionalism
  • Flexibility of shift scheduling, to support a two-shift operation when required
