Job Description

Distributor/manufacturer located in Elgin is seeking a full-time Buyer. All candidates should have at least 5 years of purchasing experience. The Buyer is responsible for purchasing stocking items, non-stocking items, and raw materials. Excellent opportunity with a growing company. Health Insurance is available. Compensation is dependent on experience.

Duties include:

  • Preparing and processing requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies
  • Conducting research through internet, existing catalogs, calls to manufacturers or distributors, historical quotes etc
  • Contacting appropriate supplier for cost and delivery timing
  • Forecasting and keeping inventory at proper levels

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or similar is preferred
  • 5+ years purchasing experience
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Microsoft Word and Excel skills preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication capabilities with the ability to negotiate
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
