- Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls.
- Identify the determinant and level of response and provides this and any additional information to the responding units.
- Transfer caller to proper agency as determined or dispatches a variety of emergency equipment to include police, fire, ambulance, Med-Evac, rescue or hazardous materials units.
- Provide emergency medical dispatching (EMD) assistance to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority's emergency medical dispatch system.
- Update information for medical, police and fire personnel enroute to call.
- Provide assistance to medical, police and fire personnel by acting as liaison between department personnel and other agencies.

- Position is subject to shift work where the incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty (including nights, weekends and holidays).
- The incumbent must maintain an overall compliance score of 90 percent, or better, as reviewed by the Advanced Quality Assurance (AQUA) software.
- This position requires employee to possess, or obtain and maintain certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- This position requires attaining Continuing Dispatch Education (CDE) requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.
- This is a Term position Not to Exceed (NTE) 2 years.
- This position requires the employee to possess, or obtain and maintain Department of Defense Telecommunicator I/II Certification.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment, and providing Emergency Medical dispatch life support care through pre-arrival instructions to callers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). EducationSome Federal position allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education is permitted.

- This is a term position Not to Exceed 2 years, but may be extended up to 6 years.
- This position MAY be made permanent without further competition contingent upon verification of the incumbent's non-competitive eligibility (must be a 30% veteran, reinstatement eligible, etc., under competitive service).
- This position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or a Temporary Reassignment and may be extended for current Department of Army employees. At the end of this period, you will return to your permanent position of record, or to a different position of equivalent grade and pay.
- Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 2 years, if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years.
- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
