Public Affairs Specialist, GS-13
You must have have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service performing the following duties: 1) collaborating and creating partnerships with local and national media to promote agency law enforcement programs and initiatives; 2) providing authoritative advice and guidance to top management officials and stakeholders on the public and media reactions to proposed agency policy statements and programs 3) briefing national and international media representatives on law enforcement cases and public policy programs, and 4) developing communication plans while taking into account specific communities or diverse audiences with varying points of view.
Public Affairs Specialist, GS-14
You must have one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service performing the following duties: 1) creating, planning and executing press events; 2) managing a Public Affairs Program for a major agency organization; 3) handling inquiries from the media or other government agencies that could affect public opinion or prompt congressional action; 4) determining the most expeditious and appropriate avenues for disseminating information, and 5) establishing agency-wide protocol, and procedures for executive leadership.
