Job Description:
PT Computer Lab Technical Assistant
Campus Location: Danvers
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8AM-12PM
Non-benefited position
Responsible for carrying out the day to day operations of the academic computer lab on the Lynn campus: enforcing and abiding by computer lab policies, helping to maintain technical inventory, performing basic hardware and software troubleshooting, working with lab customers, keeping lab statistics, being available to help other IS staff members with technology related work when needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate a positive experience for computer lab customers.
- Maintain order in the lab by keeping it quiet and clean of debris and trash, disperse printed copies to lab customers.
- Maintain a friendly and courteous manner when working with all members of the NSCC community.
- Be available to answer questions about both the open and classroom computer labs.
- Enforce the official NSCC computer use policy.
- Perform hardware and software troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Clear printers of paper jams.
- Replace laser jet toner cartridges when needed.
- Perform basic computer hardware troubleshooting (internet connectivity, mouse & keyboard integrity, power connectivity).
- Assist lab customers with software troubles including basic desktop application questions (Microsoft Office, internet browsers).
- Assist lab customers with My-Northshore Portal and Email questions.
- Assist computer lab customers with campus print management system.
- Be available to support other members of IS with all manner of technology related tasks including work that may, on occasion, take you out of the lab.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements:
- Basic understanding of computer hardware and software.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office 365 or 2019 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).
- Understanding of external storage devices such as flash drives.
- Firm knowledge of email concepts and capabilities.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and manuals.
- Proven customer service and interpersonal skills preferably in an academic environment.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lift & carry thirty or more pounds.
- Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
Additional Information:
SALARY: $13.50 per hour. This is a Non-benefited position.
