SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Housing Works is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide onsite support to residents at an innovative shelter that provides short term, quarantined housing to homeless individuals experiencing COVID symptoms. Functioning as part of an interdisciplinary team of medical and case management professionals, be in regular communication with shelter hotel staff, ensuring that residents are met during their transitional stay at the shelter hotel (typical stay between 7-14 days). All shelter employees receive Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Housing Works trains all employees in effective infection control practices.
The Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric (NPP) will provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management services to an existing and growing Office of Mental Health (OMH) client census.
Minimum RequirementsResponsibilities:
- Provide routine psychiatric evaluations and medication management as appropriate to an OMH clientele.
- Participate in routine, high risk meetings, administrative, operational and QI meetings, as well as provide clinical consultation and supervision to clinic’s NPP externs/interns, as appropriate.
- Routinely coordinate care with colleagues within the clinic as well as with outside providers as per standard clinical practice.
- Adhere to all State, Federal, and Regulatory agency laws and regulations as well as exhibit the highest ethical comportment as per the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Code of Conduct and relevant standards of care.
Education/Skills Requirements:
New York State Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a master’s Level Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing program.
